The mission of the Department of Psychology and Social Services is to provide a learning environment that encourages and challenges students to master the content and skills needed to work with and to serve a diverse community of people in a variety of settings.

This is achieved by integrating and assessing the disciplines of psychology with a biblical worldview so students who major in psychology are prepared to enter in their field and uphold their Christian values.

Students in the program learn to properly analyze a wide range of research data, understand and effectively communicate the basic concepts of psychology, and apply theoretical psychology to real-life scenarios to uncover practical solutions. They explore the cognitive, behavioral, social, physical, and spiritual dimensions of people across the world.

The learning objectives for a psychology major are:

  1. Students in psychology can use worldview analyses appropriately in understanding the field, can articulate the role of a Christian worldview, and can articulate their own.
  2. Students will show a understanding of the discipline focusing on the historical and contemporary knowledge bases, theories, methods, and cultural competencies.
  3. Students will have a clear understanding of their calling and vocation and have a plan for pursuing their calling.
